2024 was a big year for Teravalis. Not only did we take the first major steps in introducing our new community to the West Valley, but we also had the opportunity to give back to our new neighbors.
Looking back, we’re immensely proud of the hard work of our team, not only by taking the first major steps toward the development of our new community but also by building strong relationships with West Valley residents.
Below are some of our biggest achievements in 2024, with many more expected in the years to come.
Charley Freericks Announced as New Phoenix Region President
One of the most exciting milestones to happen this year was the announcement of a new Regional President to help spearhead the building of Teravalis. Charley Freericks brings a wealth of industry experience to the role, providing leadership in real estate development for over four decades.
As president, Freericks oversees all development of Teravalis, keeping with our mission to create a new standard for community building, one that will enrich the lives of all residents who will call our community home.
Upon taking on the role, Freericks shared his enthusiasm and laid out his direction:
“I am excited to join Howard Hughes and work with the Phoenix regional team as we collaborate with the city of Buckeye, the state of Arizona, and our many local partners to ensure the continued growth and success of Teravalis for generations to come. Teravalis will be Arizona’s next great community at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, providing the exceptional lifestyle for which Howard Hughes communities are known.”
First New Homebuilders Announced for Teravalis
At Howard Hughes, we are proud of our continuing partnerships with some of the leading homebuilders in the nation. Each of the homebuilders we work with provides a diverse range of housing options that include the very best in innovative design and sustainable technology.
Throughout the year, Teravalis announced seven new homebuilding partners that share our vision to set a new standard of innovation and sustainability within the industry. Brightland Homes, Century Communities, Courtland Communities, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, and New Home Co. will bring a wide range of diverse home styles to our community. Each builder has also pledged to provide every home with innovative smart home technology that meets ENERGY STAR certification. These additions will not only limit overall energy usage but also keep utility costs low for residents.
Planting the Seeds for Floreo
We announced our first village to grow out of Teravalis, Floreo. The first of many villages to come, Floreo will include a diverse range of housing options, amenities, retail shops, and event spaces that will merge seamlessly into Buckeye’s stunning open desert landscape. The village will grow across 3,000+ acres and include up to 8,500 homes over the next decade.
Over 600 acres of Floreo will be dedicated to open space, with an interconnected trail system that ensures every resident will be within a ten-minute walk to a community park. With the first lots already being prepared, we can’t wait for you to witness the first stage of our burgeoning community.
Planning the Floreo Community Center
Teravalis is designed to be more than a collection of parks and homes. It’s a community uniquely designed to bring residents together. A place where new bonds form and neighbors can work and prosper together.
Earlier this year, we announced plans for our first major amenity hub, Floreo Community Center. Here, residents will soon meet and share activities, whether that’s exercising at our full-service gym, relaxing at our outdoor gathering areas, or cooling off poolside.
Floreo will also feature powerful wi-fi and various charging stations where residents can work and collaborate together.
Teravalis Continues Its Commitment to Community
While Teravalis grows, our contributions to help build a stronger community have already begun. One way we do this is by supporting the success of our future generations.
This year, we helped recognize the achievements of two incredible students through our inaugural Teravalis Community Scholarship Award, Perla Aguilar and Kyleigh Kurtz of Tonopah Valley High School.
It’s through initiatives like these that Howard Hughes helps build a strong educational foundation for future leaders and helps grow community engagement that will help the West Valley prosper.
This is just one way Teravalis leadership is helping make a difference. In 2024 alone, we contributed resources and volunteers to a number of local organizations, including The White Tank Mountains Conservancy, All Faith Community Services, Native American Connections, Valley Partnership, Habitat for Humanity, and more.
As 2025 takes shape, we look forward to new growth, new neighbors, and new ways to help the greater community. We look forward to a year of opportunity with our grand opening slated for this October, bringing a chance to discover more ways to enrich the lives of those around us and provide a home where everyone can connect and grow together.
